Let's Educate Women & Girls In Our Community To Empower Them

In the wake of the celebration of the International Day for Elimination of Violence against Women, Hope and Change for Haiti (HnC) is hosting an educational training on sexual harassment for women and girls on November 24th, 2018 from 9 am to 2pm at Sprout CoWorking located at 166 Valley Street Providence. If you live in Rhode Island and want to participate, click HERE to register.

We are thrilled to have Lisa Hoopis, adjunct professor and Women Center Coordinator at Rhode Island College, and Jessamine Phillips, Law Enforcement Advocate at Sojourner House as facilitators. At the end of this training, a certificate will be awarded to each participant. Refreshment and food will be provided.

This training is the first of a series of educational training that HnC aims to organize in prevention of all kind of violence against women and girls in the Haitian community and others. The objective of this training is to educate women and girls to stand up and speak up when they encounter sexual harassment and sexual violence including, but not limited to, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, rape, attempted rape. No more silent.

It is a critical time for women and girls in our community. Since the #Metoo movement, women from all walks of life have come forward to share their experiences of being victims of sexual abuse. One take away from this movement is victims have been waiting too long before speaking up. To better strengthen women and girls in our community to deal with the issues they face, provide them with knowledge is essential to empower them to make the right decision by speaking up and seeking assistance.

We are truly grateful for our sponsors AMICA INSURANCE, WALMART, and SPROUT COWORKING who believe in our program and provide support to make it a reality.

As we plan to offer this educational training to women and girls in Haiti as well, we hope our partners and sponsors will continue to support our education program from now and beyond.

Thank you for your continued support.

Aniece Germain

Assistant Executive Director
